With Jon we’ll find all manner of interesting species that share our city with us. Jon is interested in weeds, the native plants they compete with and the insects that eat them. He is also interested in documenting how nature is changing in NZ in response to changing land use, species invasions, and climate change. To do this, Jon obsessively makes thousands of nature observations every week - and is fast approaching 60,000 observations!

You can either spend the whole day to walk to the city centre (7km), or finish at the halfway point at South Library (currently closed) (3 km 9:45 am–1:00 pm).

We suggest you park your car at your planned finish point and take the bus up to the Takahe meeting point.

Take the number 1 Cashmere/Rangiora bus to this historic tearooms - Sign of the Takahe - meet at 9.45am at bus stop number 23476.

Walk back to the city centre, making observations along the way, led by INaturalist NZ guru Jon Sullivan, Senior Lecturer Department of Pest-Management and Conservation at Lincoln University. The walk is approximately 7 km.

Keep track of how we are going.
