Details

We’re carrying out significant upgrade works to naturalise the Styx Drain. This involves removing the existing timber lining, reshaping the channel, and creating a more natural waterway with native planting throughout the area.

  • Removing the existing timber lined drain structure.
  • Earthworks and channel reshaping to create a naturalised waterway.
  • Adding natural features like rocks, logs and native plantings to create a habitat for birds and aquatic life.
  • Replacing the existing Styx drain culvert under Styx Mill Road with a larger structure to improve flood capacity.
  • Installing environmental protection measures during construction.
  • Extensive native riparian planting along stream banks.
  • Construction of a new pathway.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Styx Mill Road will have manual traffic control (stop/go) in place from 16 March to 23 March 2026.
  • Styx Mill Road will be closed between 23 March and 10 September 2026 to complete the culvert construction.
  • Detour routes will be signposted.
  • Redbrook Road will be reduced to one lane with temporary traffic lights or a contraflow system from 16 March to 1 May 2026.
  • Heavy vehicles will use Redbrook Road and Styx Mill Road to access the work site.

Please follow the temporary 30km/h speed limit in place to keep everyone safe.

Information for residents and neighbours:

  • You may see us on site completing some enabling works before the project starts.
  • Access to properties will be maintained at all times.
  • We're maintaining pedestrian and cyclist access where possible.
  • There will be increased construction noise and vibration at times, particularly during earthworks and culvert replacement, and we will do our best to keep this to a minimum.
  • Please look out for CORDE staff and follow the signage on site. If you need direction, please approach a staff member who will be able to assist.

We know this work can be disruptive, and we appreciate your co-operation and understanding.
