Following the opening of the Papanui Parallel Major Cycle Route and changes to the parking layout in Rutland Street, concerns have been raised regarding parking availability for the shops due to people parking all day within close proximity.

Consultation on this project has now closed. People were able to provide feedback from Wednesday 7 November 2018 to Wednesday 28 November 2018.
During this time we heard from 63 individuals and groups with the following results:
Rutland Street
Support proposed parking changes 42 submissions
Do not support proposed parking changes 21 submissions
Malvern Street
Support proposed parking changes 19 submissions
Do not support proposed parking changes 44 submissions
Consultation feedback is now available [PDF, 481 KB] with a staff report going to Waipapa/Papanui-Innes Community Board on Friday 12 April.
What are we proposing
To support regular turnover of available parking, and to give several options for parking requirements, we are proposing the following:
- P30 time restricted parking on Rutland Street adjacent to Rugby Park
7am - 5pm (Monday to Friday) - P60 time restricted parking on Malvern Street on the north side between Rutland Street and Gosset Street
7am - 5pm (Monday to Friday)
