An annual festival with a great range of guided and self-guided walks which are led by the community.
Walking Festival 2026
The festival runs over three weeks with walks on select days.The Festival programme will be available from mid-February, with the full schedule on Whats On – Don’t miss your chance to explore something new.

Explore, learn, and connect: Bringing people and places together in Christchurch – Hōpara, Ako, Hono.
- Hōpara-Explore - Discover new places and experiences in Ōtautahi.
- Ako-Learn – Share stories, knowledge and insights along the way.
- Hono-Connect – Bring people together to build community and connection.
