You can request printed or electronic aerial photographs for a large number of Christchurch and Banks Peninsula properties.
Aerial photographs are colour and were flown between 2004 and 2007. We can supply aerial photographs of Christchurch or Banks Peninsula properties at up to 1:500 scale. Photographs can printed up to A0 size, or supplied in electronic format. Pricing depends on the format and print size.
To request a photo, visit the Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch Central. You must visit in person so that we can make sure we are printing the correct area. Electronic files, and prints up to A3 size, can be generated while you wait. Alternatively, you can view aerial photos free on the Canterbury maps website(external link).
Electronic files
Aerial photos can be supplied in JPEG (.jpg) format. Due to copyright limitations, we can only supply electronic aerial photos for a single property (land parcel), or for multiple adjacent properties with the same owner (for example, rural land).
Electronic photos of larger areas, or properties with different owners, are available only to parties that are contracted to Council.
Large areas
To obtain an aerial photo of a large area, or one that covers properties with different owners, phone us on 03 941 8999. You will be charged for time and materials, with an agreed timeframe by negotiation.
